He is the grandson of Muhammad, that Hussain son of Ali. He is the innocent bud of Fatima Zahra's garden. His name is written in clear letters among the Pure Five (Panjatan). The sanctity of God's religion was molded within his martyrdom. He to whom the garments of Paradise were constantly gifted.

Jhoola Jibreel Ne Bachpan Mein Jhulaya Wo Hussain Dosh Par Jisko Payambar Ne Bithaya Wo Hussain Jis Pe Quran Ke Paaro'n Ka Tha Saya Wo Hussain Pani Dil Khol Ke Dushman Ko Pilaya Wo Hussain Haye Us Bekas-o-Nadaar Ko Pani Na Diya

He is the Hussain whom Gabriel rocked in his cradle in childhood. He is the Hussain whom the Prophet seated upon his shoulders. He is the Hussain over whom the chapters of the Quran cast their shadow. He is the Hussain who generously gave water to his enemy. Alas, they did not give water to that helpless and destitute one.

Dasht Mein Gher Liya Jisko Bulakar Mehmaan Saamne Jis Ke Tadapta Raha Akbar Sa Jawan Khench Li Jis Ne Jawa'n Bete Ke Seene Se Sina Jis Ke Haathon Pe Huwa Qatl Pisar Guncha Daha'n Aakhri Naasir-e-Mazloom Bhi Jis Ka Na Raha

He whom they surrounded in the desert after inviting him as a guest. Before whom a youth like Akbar kept writhing in pain. He who pulled the spear from his young son's chest. He on whose hands his flower-mouthed son was slaughtered. He who was left without even his last oppressed helper.

Khoob Rote Hai Jo Apna Koi Marjaata Hai Laasha Be Waali-o-Waris Ka Kafan Paata Hai Aur Taras Khaake Use Koi Bhi Dafnaata Hai Taaziyat Kay Liye Dushman Bhi Chala Aata Hai Haaye Afsos Jigar Gosha-e-Mehboob-e-Khuda

People weep bitterly when one of their own dies. A body without a guardian or heir finds a shroud. And someone, out of pity, buries them. Even enemies come to offer condolences. Alas, the sorrow for the beloved piece of the heart of God's beloved.

Haaye Pamaal Huwi Laash-e-Hussain Ibn-e-Ali Bhai Ki Laash Pay Mazloom Bahan Ro Na Saki Laashe Urya Pe Lahu, Chashme Falaq Roti Thi Kalma Padte The Payambar Ka Aur Haste The Shaqi Laash Par Jamti Thi Khaaq Aur Yeh Deti Thi Sada

Alas, the body of Hussain son of Ali was trampled. The oppressed sister could not weep over her brother's body. The eyes of the heavens wept blood upon the naked corpse. The wretched ones recited the Prophet's Kalma while they laughed. Dust gathered on the body, and it gave this call.

Parcham-e-Hazrat-e-Abbas Uthaane Wale Rahe Aabad Aza-Khaane Sajaane Wale Aur Salamat Rahe Nauho Ko Sunane Wale Gham-e-Sarwar Me Hai Jo Ashk Baha Ne Wale Fatima Zahra Unhe Khuld Mein Deti Hai Dua

May those who raise the flag of Hazrat Abbas remain. May those who decorate the mourning houses (Aza-khanas) remain prosperous. And may those who recite the elegies (Nauhas) remain safe. Those who shed tears in the grief of the Master (Sarwar), Fatima Zahra prays for them in Paradise.

Zikr-e-Maula Me Qalam Rok Na Apna Mehshar Dekh Zainab Ke Nahi Sar Pe Abhi Tak Chaadar Pursa Deta Rahe Ashaar Se Sheh Ka Mehshar Rakh Tasawwur Mei Ke Hai Dasht Mein Laash-e-Sarwar Laashe Urya'n Ko Udata Rahe Nauho Ki Rida

Do not stop your pen in the remembrance of the Master, Mehshar. Look, Zainab still has no veil upon her head. Keep offering condolences to the King through your poetry, Mehshar. Keep the image in your mind that the Master's body is in the desert. Keep covering the naked body with the mantle of your elegies.
